I slept through the alarm going off this morning! Thankfully mechanic Dan Clifford had already made a start in the garage without me, which helped a great deal and we were able to leave on time!
We are taking both minis today as I’m not sure how Frankie’s tar car will run. We plan to see how it is in practice and make sure all the problems have been sorted.
A short practice and all seems okay, and he looks quick enough.
In his first race he gets up to fifth and is going well, until coming out of the top bend he spins and ends up on a hill!
Out for Heat 2. He’s going well and gets fourth place. He’s pleased with the car, and says it feels good.
Out for the final now. A bit slow on the start, but soon up to pace with the others, making his way through the traffic. He finishes in fifth place.
Just the national to go now. Looking quick, he gets up to third place. But with 2 to go his car starts mis-firing and cut out. Not had a look at it yet, so not sure what the problem is.
We leave Barford for York, where I have to pick up a car before we travel home. We call in at our friends’ Wendy and Bones place, where they have cooked us a lovely dinner! What a treat!
Get home and work in garage for couple of hours, getting ready for Belle Vue tomorrow.
Frankie
