It was our first visit of the 2022 season to the Peak District as we took 2 cars to Buxton’s Hi-Edge Raceway for an evenings racing. Frankie and Phoebe made the trip to Derbyshire and the racing, as usual, was excellent.
In addition to the racing, Phoebe was recruited to be a tractor mechanic too!
Heat 1
Frankie went out in heat 1, with the meeting format being 2/3, and he lined up alongside fellow superstars Matt Newson (16) and Tom Harris (1). Frankie car was going well and he was keeping up with Tom as they made their war through the field, but a broken clutch plate 5 laps from the end meant he had to drive more conservatively and followed Tom over the line for a 2nd place finish.
Heat 2
Phoebe lined up on the front row of the blues alongside Bradley Harrison (25) in a race that saw the most popular winner of the night as Jake Harrhy (345) won his first ever career race on tarmac, after holding off the advancing Ryan Harrison for the final 5 laps.
Heat 3
Both Frankie and Phoebe took to the track for heat 3, and after a charge through the field tarmac specialist Luke Davidson (464) took the win with Frankie finishing 4th and Phoebe 10th.
Final
In a final dominated by the ‘Davidson Racing’ cars of Luke Davidson and Tom Harris, Luke won his 2nd race of the evening with Tom 2nd. Frankie finished the race in 5th and Phoebe had to retire with clutch issues.
Grand National
Only Frankie made it out for the grand national, however a puncture ended his race early and the race was won by Ant Lee (339) after his 3rd place finish in the final.
Back on shale on Monday at Odsal, see you all there!
