2022 Meeting Report – Hednesford (3/4/2022)

Last weekend gave us the first tarmac meeting of the season, and it was an early Sunday morning drive to Staffordshire, to Cannock and Hednesford Hills Raceway.
We travelled down with 2 cars for the meeting, Frankie’s and a first outing of the season for Frankie JJ.
The meeting was a 2/3 format, with each driver taking part in 2 of the 3 heats.
Heat 1
Frankie was out in heat 1 and he lined up alongside fellow ‘superstar’ Matt Newson (16). After a smooth drive through the pack, Frankie ran out of laps and came home in 3rd place behind the front two of Kyle Gray (124) and Lewis Evans (392).
Heat 2
Frankie JJ went out in heat 2 and lined up on the front row of the reds and after some steady driving came home 11th in a heat won by Ant Lee (339).
Heat 3
We had both Frankie and Frankie JJ out in the third and final heat, and while JJ struggled to make much headway, at the sharp end Frankie had a battle for almost half of the race with both Bobby Griffin (166) and Luke Davidson (464), and finished sandwiched between the two in 5th, with Ryan Harrison (197) taking the chequered flag.
Final
The final was the best race of the meeting, with entertainment and incidents happening throughout the pack, and in the end it was a strong first three over the line with Frankie finishing with an excellent 3rd place behind race winner Tm Harris (1) and 2nd placed Ryan Harrison. Frankie JJ had his best finish of the afternoon in 10th.
Grand National
With final winner Tom Harris starting with the lap handicap, we had a very strong field of cars out for the grand national, and the racing was good and fair and in the end the race was won by Ryan Harrison, with Charlie Sworder (5) 2nd and Luke Davidson 3rd. Frankie finished in 5th after another good drive from the back.

See you at Mildenhall and Northampton next weekend!
