2022 Meeting Report – Odsal (26/3/2022)

The weekend saw a welcome return to Odsal, and new promotion team, Yorstox. There was a healthy turn out of cars with some late additions to the booking list meaning the fans got even more value for money.
We had 4 cars racing at the meeting, Frankie, Danny, Phoebe and a 2nd meeting in as many weeks for Lewis Galer.
Heat 1
Both Phoebe and Lewis went out in the first race of the evening, as they did last week at King’s Lynn, but this week neither finished, with Phoebe’s race being ended by a puncture after a coming together with Liam Gilbank (20) and Ricky Wilson (502) on the first bend.
Heat 2
Frankie went out in heat 2 and lined up alongside Danny and Tom Harris (1). Frank suffered a broken outside half shaft and Danny struggled with fuel issues while Tom Harris took the win with ease.
Consolation
We had all 4 cars out in the consolation, Phoebe lined up alongside Mark Sargent (326) with the blues, and Frankie and Danny with Matt Newson (16). Lewis again started at the back.
There were mixed outcomes as Frankie retired as the green flag came out when his inside right wheel came loose, and Danny once again suffered with fuel delivery problems. However it was a good race for Lewis and Phoebe who finished 5th and 6th respectively.
Final
The final was designated ‘all in’ with all cars allowed to race, but with ‘heat’ points on offer for those who didn’t qualify.
Once again the gremlins were out in force for Frankie, Phoebe and Lewis with a gear shifter issue on the 515 car, Phoebe suffered a broken half shaft and Lewis had engine issues, but Danny drove an excellent race to finish the final in a well deserved 3rd behind the in-form Ryan Harrison (197) and 2nd placed Liam Gilbank.
Grand National
With final winner Ryan Harrison starting with the lap handicap, we had all 4 cars behind him, and the outcome was much better, with Frankie holding off the flying Harrison to take the chequered flag and Phoebe finishing a respectable 7th.

See you at Hednesford on the tarmac for the first time next weekend!
