2023 Meeting Report – Bradford, (25/3/2023), Dave Berresford Memorial Meeting

The first meeting of the season for Wainman Racing and we took 3 cars on the short journey to Odsal, with Frankie, Danny and Karl driving for the evening.
Whites & Yellows
We didn’t have any cars in this race, but well done to Dan Brooke who won the race, his first in a BriSCA F1.
Heat 1
Frankie, Danny and Karl went out in heat 2, and on a slippery track it was Lee Fairhurst who took the chequered flag, despite a last bender from Calum Gill, with Karl finishing 6th. Frankie, racing the hire car that was used by Freddie Flintoff on Top Gear last year, came to a halt on the outside of turn 2 a few laps in with a broken prop shaft. Danny had some front left damage panhard rod/shocker.
Heat 2
It was just Danny and Karl who went out for heat 2, with Frankie still making repairs to his car, and the race ended up being a battle between Tom Harris, Lee Fairhurst and Craig Finnikin, with Tom coming out on top with Craig 2nd and Lee 3rd. Danny finished 7th .
Heat 3
We only had Frankie out in heat 3 and it was a great race for him …… until a half shaft broke and he had to spend the race circulating at low speed but eventually finished 11th behind race winner Calum Gill, his 2nd in as many weeks.
Final
The final was a busy race and all 3 drivers made it out, however Frankie had no luck again and had to retire under waved yellows on lap 6 as a result of a puncture, and at the restart Karl was 5th and Danny 7th.
In the end it was Craig Finnikin who took the win, passing Tom Harris when his outside rear punctured, with Mat Newson 2nd and Jack France 3rd. Karl’s engine blew when he was 3rd in the race and Danny followed Jack France over the line in 4th.
Grand National
Frankie and Danny took to the track for the final race of the evening, and despite a few yellow flags it was a great race with Tom putting a big hit on Lee for the lead. Frankie had a battle with John Lund midway through the race and eventually finished 3rd behind Tom and Mat, with Danny finishing 6th.

Next time out it’s off to Skegness (Frankie JJ is racing) then hoping to debut Frankie’s new shale car at King’s Lynn the week after, fingers crossed.
