Danny decided to take a weekend off so just me and Ted raced at Birmingham.
We were running 2/3 format and 555 was in heat 1. He struggled with the car set up and didn’t seem to be getting anywhere fast, but he finished.
I was out in heat 2. My car felt good and I qualified for the final with a third place.
So both of us were out in heat 3. FWJJ was miles quicker in this one, but got squeezed up against the wall losing places. He persevered and finished 12th. Another decent result for me with another third.
It’s all in for the final. 555 got a great start, he looked quick and soon into the blues before his half shaft broke.
I had a really good race with Rob 318 and Mick 150 and finished in fourth.
The last race of the evening and a dry line appeared! I had an great start, and got away before the waved yellows came out. I then had Speaky behind me on the restart. He came in with a big hit! I managed to ride it well and caught him back up to repay the hit on the next bend.
Meanwhile Ted was battling in the top 10, just managing to pass Craig Finn on the last corner. I took the flag, and 555 wasn’t that far behind with a good seventh place.
I was happier than usual to win a race here tonight as it was a year to the day since we said farewell at the funeral of a very special fan, Ben Turner. #racingforben.
