Our Easter weekend

Easter certainly was a busy weekend for Team Wainman. F1s, ministox and V8s all racing at some point.

We started off at Skegness on Good Friday. Me and Dan struggled all night, neither of us picking up particularly good results and spent most of the evening on a par and battling amongst ourselves.

Young Frankie struggled a bit too with his spare engine. Still, he managed a few reasonable places, and definitely was the best out of the 3 of us.

A late night home but up early in preparation for Stoke. All 3 formulas running this evening. I was only a few laps into my first heat when my car went sick, I discovered that I’d snapped the crank. Not sure of the damage extent right now but it’s looking likely that I’ve done the block too?

Young Frankie picked up some valuable places and points during the meeting, a couple of podium finishes and double points for using his joker!

Danny had some hard races. He just missed out in his first heat but qualified nicely in the consolation with a decent 2nd place. 2 more top 10 finishes to follow for him with 7th in the final and 5th in the Grand National.

Phoebe had a much better evening! The best Wainman on the night with a superb race win in heat 1! Heat 2 she drove even better, mastering the freshly watered track leaving spinning cars behind her. She took her second win of the night.

During the final she didn’t seem to get going and soon parked up on the corner where she got collected by Hayley Williams. Thankfully both girls were fine, a bit of damage but nothing major.

We discovered that Phoebe had ripped her clutch plate out, she said she had lost all drive. Maybe the bumps, who knows?

Former owner and builder of Phoebe’s car, Mick Rogers came to say hello and confirmed that Phoebe’s car (known as Keith) was in fact 14 years old! Not bad for an old timer!

So it was great to have Sunday off! We spent the morning fixing things then treated ourselves to the footie match!

Monday morning and we left the farm a little earlier than usual. I was very kindly offered the use of Neil Holcroft’s car (496). We collected it from his farm in Southport then made our way across to Manchester.

Young Frank is first out. A decent drive getting him 4th in Heat 1 . He then got 5th in Heat 2,  7th in his final, but his best drive was getting third in the national.

I ended up getting three second places – heat, final and national. All good races and I enjoyed taking Neil’s car out, it felt good all night.

Danny suffered bad luck in his heat. Back in the pits he discovered that he’d done his piston rings, so an early load up just like myself at Stoke!

So a mixture of highs and lows all weekend!
