The second meeting of the first Scottish ‘weekender’ since 2018, and again we had 4 cars on track for the weekend, Frankie, Phoebe, Frankie JJ and Chris Burgoyne (64) again out in an FWJ hire car.
And before racing had even started, Frankie returned to the pits with some damage after he tried to see if the walls were equally as hard at both ends of the circuit!!
Heat 1
The meeting was a 2/3 format, with each driver having 2 heats to compete in, and in heat 1 we had Frankie and Frankie JJ on track together with Chris in the hire car.
From pole, Dan Hughes (237) took the lead and led from flag to flag for his first ever win in a BriSCA F1, Frankie finished 8th and JJ 12th.
Heat 2
Both Frankie and JJ were back out for heat 2, and they were joined by Phoebe, and like heat 1 the driver that got away, which was Simon Traves (47), went on to take the chequered flag. Phoebe came home 5th with JJ right behind her. Frankie retired with a damaged gearbox, and related suspension damage.
Heat 3
Phoebe and Chris (64) went out for heat 3, and in an action packed race requiring a few yellow flags, it was Charlie Sworder (5) who chased down the pack and led fellow red tops Lee Fairhurst (217), Matt Newson (16) and Paul Hines (259) over the line with Phoebe finishing an excellent 5th.
Final (Scottish Championship)
The final was the 2022 Scottish Championship, and Phoebe lined up alongside Simon Traves on the front row of the blues, Frankie JJ lined up alongside Charlie Sworder on the front of the reds with Frankie at the back.
The race itself wasn’t that exciting and Simon Traves followed up his win in heat 2 to become the new Scottish Champion, well done Simon.
Frankie finished the final in 4th and Frankie JJ in 8th.
Grand National
Phoebe, Frankie JJ and Frankie went out for the final race of a brilliant weekend, and the race was action packed from start to finish, yellow flags for damage to John Fortunes car, yellows for a pike up on turn 3, yellows for Jake’s stricken car and eventually a well deserved win for Catherine Harris (8) who was pulling away from the chasing 55 car of Craig Finnikin as she took the chequered flag. The 3 Wainman cars finished in 6th, 7th and 8th (Frankie JJ, Phoebe and Frankie respectively).
Off to Sheffield next weekend for the penultimate WCQ round and the final one on shale, see you there.
