2026 Season | World Championship Semi Final, King’s Lynn 25/7/2026

For Team Wainman, all roads lead to King’s Lynn at the end of last month for the first of this year’s semi-finals and all 4 of our drivers (Frankie, Danny, Frankie and Karl) were in the same semi.

The meeting was busy with the pits full, and with only two formulae the meeting went well.

But the semi-final itself was definitely one to forget for two of our drivers but one to remember for the other two.

After the initial start and the big train into turn 1 & 2 the yellows came out and there were cars all over the track, but mainly Karl who almost rolled in his nicely refurbished car ending up on top of the 463 car of James Morris, both of them being out of the race.

As the race was about to restart, Frankie pulled onto the centre with mechanical issues, both their races over before they started.

The race, when it restarted, was entertaining to say the least, with cars falling by the wayside throughout, to the extent that there were only 9 cars finished, something that has never happened before.

Both Danny and Frankie JJ both finished and in doing so qualified for the WF, but neither driver had an easy run, with Danny in particular ending up near the rear of the pack at one point before fighting his way back up to finish 4th with Ted one place behind in 5th.

Frankie’s demise was a freak issue with the lead from the coil breaking, something he has never seen in all his years of racing, and something that’s not as a result of poor maintenance or preparation, just one of those things.

If that wasn’t bad enough, that early collision for Karl resulted in him having to go to hospital in Norfolk, and leaving with a diagnosis of two broken bones in his wrist!!

So we have two drivers in the WF already and two (if Karl is fit) will have to go again, at Scunthorpe at the end of the month, in the Consolation Semi-Final.

Finally congratulations to Kyle Gray on his victory in the semi-final!

Thanks to Ian Bannister and Ant Jenkins for the photo’s, oh and Karl for the x-ray pics!
