After a busy evening at Odsal last night, we made the relatively short trip to Sheffield and Owlerton Stadium, but today we only took 2 cars and only one of those was racing. Just Frankie was taking to the track today and he was using the hire car that Lewis Galer (78) had used the pervious evening for the meeting. With there only being 18 cars, the format of the meeting was ‘all in’, with all drivers competing in both heats, final and grand national.
Heat 1
Frankie went out in heat 1 and lined up at the back with Craig Finnikin (55) Matt Newson (16) and Lee Fairhurst (217), and as Frankie struggled with the car on the wet track, it was Joe Booth (446) who took the chequered flag, his first in his new car, with Frankie finishing 8th, but in touch with the superstars.
Final
The final was exciting with a few stoppages for car recovery and fence repair, and it was Rich Bryan (238) who made his way to the front and led the race from Daniel Ford and Joe Booth, however, Daniel managed to pass them both and take his 2nd ever BriSCA F1 final win and his 2nd in as many days, with Frankie working his way through to 6th by the time the chequered flag fell.
Grand National
Rich Bryan again took to the front in the grand national and led for over half the race until he was taken out by a backmarker, which left Joe Booth with a run to the flag after he passed Neil Shenton (35) with Frankie finishing in 6th again.
A weekend off next week for Phoebe & Karl’s wedding, so see you all for the big weekend at Mildenhall, Ipswich and Northampton!
