For a while now Frankie has wanted to do some changes to the tarmac car as he felt there was more that could be done to improve performance, and after all the car is a good few years old now.
With his semi-final being on the King’s Lynn shale, he took the opportunity to strip things back to basic, correct few issues and get the car in a better state for the trip over the water to Holland for the World Cup at Venray this weekend.
Frankie added “Unfortunately we got a bit carried away and we didn’t have the time to get the car finished in time for last weekend’s meeting at Skegness, so that’s the reason he used Dave Hopkin’s tarmac car for that meeting”.

“We decided to do a ‘full’ front end rebuild and suspension upgrade, as this was easier and ultimately quicker to start again, rather than cutting and grinding bits off, cleaning off old paint”.
That tarmac car has now had a comprehensive overhaul and is now back together ready for one of the best weekends of the year over in Venray, a meeting we didn’t want to miss.
Frankie would like to recognise the huge team effort, and big thanks go to: Ted, Binnsy, Pete and Anthony for putting in the hours.
The car was only taken to Deano’s for paint on Wednesday (12/8/2026) morning and once back at the garage, Jack Rawlinson applied the finishing touches, getting finished at 3.30am on the day we left for Venray (13/8/2026).
As you can see the car looks a little different, lets hope it goes as well as it looks.
Thanks to Ian Bannister, Chris Binns and Jack Rawlinson for the photo’s

Car went to Deano’s on Wednesday morning and than they started the prep work before painting could commence

Once we got the car back to the farm, Jack Rawlinson (Sunrise Signs) set to work adding all the signage, this took until 3.30am on Thursday.

So after a long and ambitious 2 weeks here it is, the refurbished 515 tarmac car all ready for Venray
