2022 Meeting Report – Venray (21 & 22/8/2022)

Team Wainman headed off across the north sea for the first time since 2019 when we headed over to Venray for the 2022 World Cup. We took 3 cars over to Holland, Frankie, Phoebe and Frankie JJ all looking to bring the silverware back to North Yorkshire.
The weekend was a great success and as usual we were made to feel so welcome by our Dutch friends, and there was a great contingency of drivers from the UK making the trip across for this years event.
The racing was over 2 days with time trials for positions in the big race, where Tom Harris (1) and Simon Traves (47) took the first two slots for ‘overseas’ drivers, with the UK’s Luke Davidson (464) and Jordan Falding (36) locking out the front row as they qualified via the Dutch process.
all 3 cars were performing well, with Phoebe performing especially well on the long tarmac oval.
At the end of Saturday’s racing there were issues with the diff on Frankie’s car and the team had to work well into the night to get this repaired and ready for Sundays heats.
The main race was excellent and out congratulations go to Dany van Wamelen (H47) on winning the World Cup, holding of a big hit from Luke Davidson (464) on the last bend to take the title. Luke finished 2nd with Rik Lenssen (H318) 3rd. Franke finished an excellent 5th with Phoebe 2 places behind in 7th.
Frankie said “it was a brilliant weekend for all our cars, and yet again we were all made most welcome by out hosts”!

Next up for Wainman Racing is a trip to our local track, Odsal, next Saturday, see you there.
