The 2022 BriSCA F1 European Champion is Frankie Wainman Jr.
But whilst this was Frankie’s 4th European title (the others being 1995, 2006 and 2014), the result was historic as while Frankie was on the top step of the podium, Phoebe was 2nd and Frankie JJ 3rd, the top 3 positions in a major championship all from the same family for the first time.
But the result wasn’t straight forward, and after a lengthy review, the top-three finish was confirmed for the family, and they were able to celebrate their achievement a bit closer to home, with a presentation at Odsal last Saturday (30/7/2022).
Frankie was still on cloud nine when he spoke to the Keighley News, saying:
“It’s something you wouldn’t even dream of as a dad.
I’ve won majors before, but to have a 1-2-3 with my son and daughter was something I never thought would happen, especially with the sport’s quality.
Even putting the family achievement aside, Phoebe achieved the highest-ever finish by a female at a European Championship.”
Well done to all 3 drivers, and to Karl who finished the race in 4th.
