Doesn’t seem like 5 minutes since we were here last time? Anyway, me and Danny arrived on time without any problems so that was a good start!
All 3 of us were in different heats which is good as it gives us chance to watch to see how we all get on.
Young Frank is out first. We made the wrong tyre choice, but he has a decent and fair race, finishing in 10th and avoiding the consolation.
Danny is out in Heat 2. He has a decent run without too much trouble, and qualifies with a 6th place.
Just me to go, and I managed to get up to 2nd without a stoppage. I couldnt catch Joff 249 so settled with second.
We all make it for the Final so that’s got to be a good thing? If you’re a Wainman supporter 🙂
Young Frank got taken out early on, but he managed to rejoin and kept going to finish in 14th.
Danny was up into ninth but on his last lap his MSD wire came off, so a DNF.
I worked my way through the traffic but not without plenty of action. Two or three stoppages?
A car got fired into me buckling my wheel onto the shocker, which ended up ripping the shocker off.
The last stoppage happened with just one lap remaining. Aware that I had no shocker I had to get my start perfect… should I jump the start? Never!! I timed it right and just managed to get enough ground to stop anyone making contact, and took the win.
Frank 555 didn’t last too long in the National. H got a flat tyre on the first lap and pulled off.
A race stoppage early on worked for me, allowing me to gain some ground. The car felt mint and I was passing a few. I managed to catch and pass Danny, but he stayed with me.
I didn’t have enough time to challenge Mick 150, but I was happy enough with a second place, with Danny in third.
On Sunday we were at Belle Vue with Phoebe. Not the best of meetings! In her heat she pulled off before race started due to fuel pump problems, which put her in the Consolation.
Another non-start in the Consolation? She retired to the infield as the rolling lap started, this time her car had flooded up. This meant she hadn’t qualified for the Final.
Thankfully there was a National which meant our meeting hadn’t been a total waste of time.
A very busy race, lots of cars, lots of carnage too. Pheebs did well and avoided most of the chaos, finishing fourth.
Thanks again to our teams, sponsors, and fans, and a special mention to Pip who might be making a debut in his own car soon… ?
Superb photos from Marvin Hall and Dave Wallis.
