2022 Meeting Report – Bradford, Shootout Round 6 (15/10/2022)

The BriSCA F1 Shootout moved on to Odsal for round 6 in October, and we took 6 cars don the road to our local track, Frankie, Danny, Phoebe, Frankie JJ, Karl and Lewis Galer.
Heat 1
Karl lined up with the blues and Danny, Phoebe and Frankie JJ at the back with the shootout drivers.
This was a stop-start race with 5 yellow flag periods, but in the end Matt Newson (16) crossed the line first with Dany getting 3rd, Frankie JJ continuing his good for at Odsal, 4th and Phoebe 8th.
Heat 2
Frankie and Lewis were out in heat 2, but Lewis only manages 3 laps before he was gathered up by the turn 3 fence and had a snapped front axle.
With 5 to go the heavens opened and we have another yellow flag, and on the restart, Tom Harris (84) lead with Frankie 5th.
Tom won the heat with Lee Fairhurst (217) 2nd and Frankie 3rd.
Consolation
Lewis made it out for the consolation after some great work by the guys in the pits, and he was our only driver in the race.
Sadly Lewis’ race was over by halfway with Craig Finnikin (55) taking the win with Charlie Sworder (5) 2nd and Daniel Ford (18) 3rd.
Final
The final had 5 of our cars on the grid, with Karl joining the 4 shootout drivers.
What a race we had, and on lap 5 it was mayhem with the track blocked, but at the restart it was Rich Bryan (238) who was leading, but sadly Phoebe joined Tom Harris on the centre, retiring early.
2 laps later we had red flags as the 446 car of Joe Booth was on fire.
After another couple of stoppages to clear cars from the track, it was Craig Finnikin who took the chequered flag, with Matt Newson 2nd and Mal Brown (34) 3rd. Karl finished 4th and Frankie was 6th.
Grand National
We managed to get all 5 cars out for the national, and what a hectic race it was with bumpers going in everywhere from the start, we had a few stoppages for damaged cars and to remove debris from the track, but in the end it was Frankie who held of the rapidly advancing Niels Tesselaar (418) and took the chequered flag with Niels 2nd and Rob Mitchell (95) 3rd.

Next time out it’s off to Kings Lynn for the seventh Shootout round of 2022, see you there.
